9245 Rhodelia Road, Payneville, KY 40157

St. Theresa of Avila is Fr. Ron Knott’s home parish.  He will be our guide as we tour the church, Family Life Center and Cemetery.

The cemetery has a connection to the first Black American priest in the United States, Fr. Augustus Tolton, who is now on the path toward canonization.  His maternal grandmother is buried there.

Lunch with St. Theresa of Avila’s Seniors group will be provided by the parish.

It is about an hour’s drive from Louisville.  Drive yourself, or consider car-pooling.  To make a reservation and for more details contact Brenda McWaters at mcwatersbrenda@gmail.com or 502-641-1575.

Welcome

Dear Members of the Cathedral Parish,

Easter Greetings!

The last two weekends have been a little different here at the Cathedral, and hopefully my talk this weekend and this letter will help.

I was on my annual retreat April 1-8 at the Abbey of Guadalupe in Pecos, New Mexico. It came to my phone that it was announced at the Saturday evening Mass, in my absence, that I was leaving the Cathedral in June as Archbishop Fabre was transferring me to Holy Spirit and St. Leonard parishes. It had been agreed among the Archbishop, the current pastors and administrators, and me that the announcement was to be made the weekend of April 13 and 14.

Unfortunately, an error of judgment and misinformation on the part of two priests caused a lot of confusion.

I again apologize for this HUGE mistake.

And so, on June 19th, we will welcome Fr. Fred Klotter as the next Rector here at the Cathedral. Father holds degrees in Finance, Theology, Canon Law and Business Administration. He is a member of the Archdiocesan Finance Committee and Clergy Health Panel. He will be full-time here at the Cathedral, unlike the last three that had other full-time jobs.

I am very happy about where the Cathedral stands today. Our community is happy and vibrant, the Finance Committee and Parish Council are working hard to provide a vision and plan for the future. We keep the momentum going!

I am sure that you will welcome Father Klotter with open arms as he is excited about coming.

God bless,

Fr. Chandler

Steiner-Reck Organ The 42 rank tracker organ has mechanical key action, and electric stop action. The gothic style casework is made of hand-carved mahogany.
Garden of Benevolence The stained-glass window in the garden was commissioned by the Cathedral Heritage Foundation during the 1994 renovation of the Cathedral.
Wood-carved Bosses The ornate woodcarvings or bosses on the ceiling were originally installed as a means for ventilation into the attic.
Arched Windows The Cathedral is designed in Neo-Gothic style. The arched windows of hand-painted glass allow sunlight to create beautiful images through-out the nave.
